Automate small but repetitive timesheet housekeeping — carrying notes through to task lines and handling non-billable time.
Timesheet Triggers
- Timesheet Created - | Event | A timesheet entry is created or updated.
Note: There is currently no recurring/daily timer trigger for timesheets. Timesheet automations run from the Timesheet Created event only.
Timesheet Conditions
Common timesheet fields to filter on:
- Billable length, linked task, and notes - Fields on the timesheet entry. For example, only act when the entry has a note, or only on non-billable entries.
Timesheet Actions
- Add Timesheet Note to Project Task Line - appends the timesheet's note onto the description of its linked project task line (on a new line). Only acts when the entry has a linked task line and a note. No settings.
- Set Timesheet Billable Length to Zero - marks the entry as non-billable (sets its billable length to 0). No settings.
- Send Timesheet Email - Emails a notification to the Timesheet User or internal contact.
Automation Library Timesheet Templates
There are no pre-built Library templates for timesheets yet, but the triggers and actions above are fully available when you build your own workflow (Workflows → Add Workflow).
Example timesheet custom workflows:
- Carry notes through to the job - Timesheet Created → Add Timesheet Note to Project Task Line, so context entered on time logs shows up against the task.
- Auto-flag certain time as non-billable - Timesheet Created, with a condition that identifies the entries you don't bill → Set Timesheet Billable Length to Zero.
Timesheet Workflow Tips
- Except for send timesheet email, both timesheet actions act on the entry that triggered them and have no settings, so these workflows are ready immediately once built, just add a condition if you only want them to apply to some entries.
