Universal Fields

Can be placed anywhere within a supported document templates and do not need to be inside a repeating table. Available universal fields are:

Table Fields

Table fields allow you to display repeating information from WorkGuru in your document templates. Unlike Universal Fields, which can generally be placed anywhere within a template, Table Fields must be placed inside a correctly configured table with an Alt Text Description field set within your template. When the document is generated, WorkGuru automatically repeats the relevant table row for each applicable record. Merge fields and Table Alt Text are case sensitive and must be entered exactly as displayed. See: Table Fields Reference. Available table fields are:

Custom Fields

Custom fields can also be included in supported document templates that match the custom field type. The merge field name matches the custom field name. 

For Example:

• Custom field name: SiteContact
• Merge field: [CustomSiteContact]

Common Issues & Troubleshooting

Field displays instead of data

If you see the actual field name displaying:

• [ClientName]

in the generated document, check:

• Field spelling and capitalisation - merge fields are case sensitive
• Both square brackets are present.
• Confirm the field is available for that document type

Blank values

If a field returns blank in the generated document, the field is technically working as there is nothing to print from the source. check:

• Verify the source record contains data

Table Does Not Populate

Check that:

• The table's Alt Text Description is correct and matches the required table name. Alt Text Descriptions are case senstive
• There is only 1 table of each type in the document. For example, you can't print 2 product tables on a quote.
• The table has both a header row and a repetition row.
• The merge fields are entered exactly as documented in the repetition row.
• The table is supported by the document type.
• There is applicable data to display.

Custom field not working

Verify:

• The custom field exists
• The field contains data
• The merge field name matches the custom field name and is formatted correctly.
